Stanford remains undefeated on the season with wins over Kansas State and USC to open the year. Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey remains in the early Heisman conversation as he racked up 260 yards and two touchdowns in the team's 27–10 win over the Trojans over the weekend.
UCLA's defense held off BYU in its most recent game, with Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen throwing for 307 yards and two touchdowns. The Cougars were held to just 273 yards, including just 23 rushing yards on 25 attempts.
UCLA has an eight-game losing streak against Stanford. In seven of those eight games, the Cardinal have won by a touchdown or more.
