WATCH: Spurrier press conference addressing media of resignation

Steve Spurrier's resignation from the University of South Carolina caught many off guard.
During his public press conference addressing the media, a wide range of emotions were present. Spurrier looked back fondly at his coaching career, particularly in regards to South Carolina. He also was sullen, introspective, and matter-of-fact when speaking about the current state of South Carolina football (particularly when it comes to recruiting).
"The Ol' Ball Coach" went 86-49 since taking over the job in 2005. Spurrier brought the program to new heights, winning 11 games in three-straight seasons. He effectively turned a mediocre program into one competing for SEC East Division Titles on an annual basis.
Shawn Elliott will now take over on an interim basis. The Co-Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach is a proud native of the state, and hopes to be in Columbia for the long haul. He'll be tasked with binding this team together in the face of adversity. Sitting at 2-4, South Carolina faces the meat of its conference schedule in the next six weeks.
