Wagner 23, Duquesne 17
Dominique Williams ran for two touchdowns, including a late go ahead score to lead Wagner past Duquesne 23-17 Saturday to capture its first ever Northeast Conference Championship.
Wagner, who has won eight straight games, led 14-10 entering the fourth quarter. But Sean Patterson's 6-yard rushing touchdown with 12:39 left gave Duquesne (5-6, 3-5) a 17-14 lead.
On Wagner's (8-3, 7-1) next possession, Williams capped off an 11-play, 81-yard drive, with a 1-yard touchdown run to give Wagner the 21-17 advantage and the lead for good.
The Dukes' ensuing drive was stopped short by an aggressive Seahawk defense with 5:38 left in the fourth quarter, when Patterson was sacked for an 8-yard loss in the end zone, pushing Wagner's lead to 23-17.
Wagner's defense would hold Duquesne scoreless the rest of the quarter to pull out the 23-17 victory.
