Vols plan to wear 'Smokey Gray' jerseys against Georgia
Tennessee is without a doubt in a serious funk right now. Can the Smokey Gray jerseys help them shed whatever bad vibes may exist within the program?
That's the hope, as Butch Jones confirmed the team would indeed wear their new threads, providing Nike delivers their helmets on time.
“As of right now, if we do get all the helmets in, I do want to announce that it’ll be a Smokey Gray game,” Jones said. “We will debut our Smokey Gray uniforms, which does not help you win a football game, but I know everyone’s been looking forward to that.”

While the alternate uniforms do make for an interesting change, fans are well aware that the team is 0-2 all-time in their gray uniforms, having lost to both Georgia and Vanderbilt in 2013 while wearing the Smokey Grays.
If Tennessee can reverse their fortunes and finally win against Georgia, the Nike alternate jersey may be here to stay.
