Tennessee senior fullback Kevin Cooper is being suspended for Saturday's game at South Carolina.
Volunteers coach Derek Dooley said Wednesday he is suspending the Chattanooga native because he violated a team academic policy.
Cooper, 6-foot, 242 pounds, had played in all seven games this season and started five. He caught six passes for 39 yards.
Freshman Channing Fugate will replace Cooper in the lineup. Fugate has also played in all seven games, but his only offensive statistic came on an 8-yard kickoff return in the Vols' 32-29 overtime win over UAB.
