Villanova 54, Stephen F.Austin 24

Chris Whitney threw four touchdown passes, Matt Szczur had 128 yards receiving and Villanova rallied from an early deficit to defeat Stephen F. Austin 54-24 Saturday in the second round of the FCS playoffs.

Whitney was 21 of 30 for 222 yards and Szczur caught 11 passes, including a 51-yard TD for the Wildcats (8-4), who will play at No. 1 seed Appalachian State in the quarterfinals either Friday or Saturday.

Jeremy Moses was 33 of 51 for 340 yards for the Lumberjacks (9-3) but also had three interceptions. Keith Lawson ran for three touchdowns and a team-high 75 yards.

Lawson's third score gave Stephen F. Austin a 21-7 lead with 1:34 left in the first quarter, but Villanova rallied to take a 34-24 halftime lead and the Lumberjacks didn't score again.

Norman White had two of his three TD receptions in the second quarter for Villanova.
