Updates on the South Carolina offense

In desperate need of a victory, South Carolina is hoping its offense can put up some points against UCF on Saturday.
As announced earlier in the week, Lorenzo Nunez will start for the Gamecocks at quarterback. He's the first true freshman to start at South Carolina since Mikal Goodman back in 1999. Nunez is the first true freshman to start under Steve Spurrier dating back to 1997, when Jesse Palmer started for Florida.
The offensive line will also see a freshman starter in Zack Bailey. He's filling in for an injured Alan Knott at center. According to offensive line coach Shawn Elliott, Bailey looks primed for the challenge.
"When we put him in there last week, I kind of smiled at him and said, 'alright big boy, let's go play.' He didn't bat an eye, he's excited," said Elliott. "He never thought in a million years he'd be playing center and starting against Central Florida, so it's a good time."
Lastly, wide receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. expects D.J. Neal to get into the mix a bit more. Outside of Pharoh Cooper, the receiver corps has been somewhat pedestrian. South Carolina desperately needs another pass-catcher to step up and take some pressure off of Cooper.
