Toledo will return to Tulane for 2011

Tulane says coach Bob Toledo will be back next year despite leading the Green Wave to four consecutive losing seasons.

Toledo has a 13-35 record with Tulane but took over when the New Orleans school was still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. The Green Wave, which went 4-8 this season, returns 17 starters next year.

Athletic director Rick Dickson says Toledo ''came into a very difficult situation.'' Dickson says the program is in a position now to contend in Conference USA and reach the postseason, and he expects it to happen next year.

Tulane announced Wednesday that Toledo had received a one-year extension and an option year. He became the 37th head coach at Tulane on Dec. 11, 2006.
