For almost a month now, fans and media alike have been talking about the semi-final matchup in Atlanta between Washington and Alabama.

Few are giving the Huskies a chance. The general tenor among most has not been “Can Washington win the game,” but rather, “Are the Washington players afraid they might actually die.”

We caught up with Peter Burns and Cole Cubelic to get their thoughts on a variety of topics, including Saturday’s Peach Bowl, scheduled for a 2:10 p.m. Central kickoff on ESPN.

“Alabama reminds me of Floyd Mayweather as a boxer,” said Burns. “If you don’t score early, you’re done. Washington will need an early turnover, and they’ll need to capitalize, or they’re in trouble.”

Cole Cubelic doesn’t necessarily see an upset brewing, but he believes he sees a path, at least potentially, for Washington to keep it competitive.

“They need to take advantage of the one-on-one matchups,” he said. “If it’s a four-yard completion, or even a two-yard completion, they need to take it. If they get stubborn and waste time running the ball or waiting on deeper throws to develop, they’ll be playing right into Alabama’s hands.”

Burns and Cubelic also offered their thoughts on Jake Browning, Lane Kiffin, players sitting out of bowl games and how Florida made the Alabama defense angry in the SEC title game in Atlanta.
