Texas State doubles up South Alabama, 36-18
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) Robert Lowe ran for 248 yards on 30 carries with three touchdowns, including a game long 54-yarder in the fourth quarter, to help lead Texas State to a 36-18 win over South Alabama on Saturday.
Tyler Jones threw for 105 yards and ran for 71 and a touchdown, while Brandon McDowell returned an Aleem Sunanon missed 53-yard field goal 100 yards for a touchdown for the Bobcats (2-4, 1-1 Sun Belt).
Sunanon hit a 32-yard field goal to give South Alabama an early 3-0 lead. Texas State seized control from there, however, reeling off 26 unanswered points capped off by a 16-yard Lowe TD run to take a 26-3 lead in late into the third quarter, effectively putting the game out of reach.
Cody Clements had 189 yards passing and Xavier Johnson finished with 93 yards rushing for South Alabama (3-4, 1-2).
