Texas Southern 30, Alcorn St. 20
Marquis Jackson had his second sack of the game, forcing a fumble to prevent a potential game-winning touchdown late in Texas Southern's 30-20 win over Alcorn State on Saturday.
The Tigers (3-3, 3-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) led 23-20 when the Braves (3-2, 2-1) were driving in Texas Southern territory.
Alcorn State's Brandon Bridge went to pass on fourth-and-16 from the Tigers' 35 when Jackson tallied his seventh tackle, and fourth for a loss.
The Tigers' Jerome Thomas picked it up and ran 65 yards for the score with 29 seconds left.
Bridge, who had 197 yards on 15-for-34 passing, tied it at 20 on a 37-yard run late in the third. Robert Hersh's 30-yard field goal put the Tigers ahead by three with 10:21 left.
Marcus Wright rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown and Arvell Nelson had 159 yards on 18-for-35 passing for Texas Southern.
