Tennessee Tech holds on to beat Hampton 30-27

Cody Matthews caught nine passes for 114 yards and his game-winning touchdown clinched Tennessee Tech's 30-27 win over Hampton on Saturday night.
Tennessee Tech (2-1) pushed its lead to 30-20 with 4:09 left on Matthews' 32-yard touchdown catch. Hampton responded with a touchdown, but were unable to recover the ball on the onside kick with less than 2 minutes remaining.
Hampton (0-3) led 13-10 at halftime and Antwon Chisholm's 22-yard touchdown early in the third quarter gave the Pirates a 20-10 lead. Tennessee Tech scored 20-unanswered points for the 30-20 lead.
Tennessee Tech was held to 113 yards last week against No. 20 Wisconsin.
Tennessee Tech and Hampton met on the football field for the first time in school history last season and Tennessee Tech won 41-31.
