Tennessee’s Sept. 5 season opener against Bowling Green seems like a lifetime away for Volunteers fans, and their excitement boiled over during Saturday’s open practice.
While Butch Jones has opened one August practice to fans each year since becoming head coach, he was still taken back by what he saw – 40,000 fans piling into Neyland Stadium.
40,000 for a PRACTICE, enough said!!! Thank you #VolNation for being the best fan base in the country!! #OneTennessee pic.twitter.com/pFwP9aR8IV

Some programs struggle to bring in 40,000 on a game day, so you really have to give credit when credit’s due. Well done, Volunteers fans.
