The Oregon State Beavers have secured another commitment for the 2016 football season. Tight end John Bates, from Lebanon High School in Oregon, has committed to the Beavers. He represents the ninth 2016 commit for OSU.

Bates, a 6'6" tight end, is also a track and field star. He is currently unranked by Rivals as a football player. Bates had received interested from Wyoming and Boise State, among others.

As for why he chose the Beavers, here is what Bates had to say:

"I just felt comfortable," he said, according to Gina Mizell of The Oregonian. "The coaches were super relatable, super personable. It just made it that much easier to decide what I want to do."
