SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) Syracuse reached deep into Atlantic Coast Conference territory for five new players and inked seven others from the metropolitan New York City area in a recruiting class of 25.

The Orange signed seven defensive linemen, five offensive linemen, four defensive backs, three running backs, two linebackers, and one quarterback, one kicker, one tight end and one long snapper.

Geographically, the majority are from the Northeast, with four from New Jersey, two from the boroughs of New York City, and one from Long Island. Syracuse also signed three players each from Florida and Georgia and one from Alabama.

Two of the three rating services - Rivals and 247Sports - pegged the class in the 60s overall, at the lower end of the conference. Scout.com had the Orange ranked 46th at midday, ahead of Virginia, Boston College, Pitt, Wake Forest and Duke.
