Syracuse Football: Time for head coach Dino Babers to set up

The Syracuse football team is trying to get their first skin of the season. They have a real strong chance if head coach Dino Babers steps up.

Time to prove me wrong.  So I have laid out challenges over the past few weeks to Dino Babers and the student body of Syracuse University.  This week with a top 20 ranked Virginia Tech (currently ranked 17) visiting the Loud House it’s time to shut me up.

To the student body, my challenge was to show up to the damn game!  As discussed in my previous articles it will cost you $2.85 to see a shoot-out between our beloved Orange (I was going to say my beloved Orange because I’m not sure by your attendance figures I should use ‘our’) and a top ranked team.  On a crisp fall afternoon in Central New York.  I’m pretty sure at 3:30 on a Saturday you aren’t studying more likely boozing it up on the front lawn of the Special Education building. Which is a little ironic based on some of the characters I have seen there.  So get off your lawn chairs and walk up the hill and help the Carrier Dome return to significance and earn the title of the Loud House.

To Dino Babers, you are a very intelligent football coach … but … don’t become too enamored with yourself.  Don’t be stubborn, modify your style as needed during this game.  When we get a lead (notice I said when) slow the pace down before the half and don’t give the ball back to Tech.  Be unpredictable with your play calling for a change.  Don’t take two deep shots in a row and a run up the middle for a half yard gain for a 3 and out total time of possession 17 seconds.  Give your defense a shot for a change.

Now on to the game itself, the Matchup predictor has Cuse as a 4 to 1 underdog and no one is giving us a chance.  We are 19 and ½ point underdogs at home frankly that is embarrassing.  Frankly the odds makers have it WRONG.  The Orange have played a tougher schedule (Notre Dame, Louisville) than Tech (North Carolina, Tennessee). Plus a comparison of our offensive production we crush them against better opponents.  Tony Dungy has almost twice as much passing yardage (1886 to 1045), rushing leader 343 to 288) and receiving leaders Etta-Tawo dominates Ford 876 yards to wait for it 376 an astounding 500 yards.

In summary components we need for a win, fill the dome and make it the Loud House again; Dino Babers stop being a gimmick and start building a winner.  And the results will be … ORANGE WIN 38-21 you heard it hear first.
