Syracuse Football: Great opportunity awaits Syracuse in MetLife

When the Syracuse football team takes on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame a great opportunity awaits them. This could be the Heisman moment for Dino Babers.
While on the surface, the Syracuse football team (2-2) is facing a battered Notre Dame (1-3) team on a neutral site. But if you take a step back, regardless of Notre Dame’s record they’re a big draw.
After practice Orange star, Amba Etta-Tawo, was giddy when talking about the matchup on a national stage.
“Yeah it’s a big game! It’s a great opportunity against a great team. It’s going to be a lot of fun for us. You dream about games like this and we’re ready for a dog fight.”
We talked about the debate several weeks ago between (5-7) and (6-6). The difference being that in the five win season you’d get a “skin” on the wall.
A “skin” game being one of the big boys that the Orange have on their schedule: Louisville, Notre Dame, Florida State, or Clemson.
While in the six win season scenario, you’d be beating teams you’re supposed to beat. And your reward would be some dot com bowl berth.

With a win on Saturday the Orange would give themselves the opportunity for both scenarios. This is a very winnable game for the Orange on Saturday.
The team is vulnerable and you can look at them one of two ways. On one hand you have a team that is down in the mouth and feeling sorry for themselves.
So if you’re Syracuse, you could kick them while they’re down and take advantage. While on the other side of the coin you could be facing a very angry and focused team.
The latter seems to be the narrative heading into this game and head coach Dino Babers has said that he expects to get Notre Dame’s best shot.
“They’re wounded and obviously they had the issues off the field to deal with. We probably wish they would’ve won the game last week, but we know they’re going to be ready.”
