Syracuse Football: AD Wildhack- "It's Going to take some time"
We’ve been hearing about the Syracuse Football team all week. In the coffee shop on the way to work, in the break room, on the radio, and in the paper. Syracuse lost to the Louisville Cardinals in a big way last Friday night.

This morning I dug into the numbers of how bad the Syracuse Football loss was in Carrier Dome history. In some ways we wish the media would stop talking about it and let us forget and move on.
Still some fans may argue the large margin was because the Orange were 10 of 23 on third down. Whatever the reason was that we lost , which I’m sure there are several, we have to improve and soon. On Tuesday, Syracuse Athletic Director John Wildhack said we have a ways to go, but there is hope if we’re just a little more patient.
“Fans of any team want to win, and they want to win immediately, but we have to balance that with the fact that we need to build this thing and that it’s going to take some time. Dino said when he was named head coach (back in December) that this system, being an entirely new system, means it’s going to take a year and a half for the players to get into the condition that he’s going to want them to be in.” -Syracuse Athletic Director John Wildhack
Tired of Waiting…. Hear Me Out
Now I get that Syracuse Football fans are sick of waiting, but Wildhack is spot on. A win-now philosophy by fans doesn’t help matters. Instead, it creates higher expectations for a team trying to rise from the ashes. When the team falls short of those expectations I’m sure to the team it feels like they’re back at rock bottom. Most teams would use it as building block and learning tool for the future. In Syracuse’s case though its hard to see the green grass on the other side of the fence when we’ve been down for awhile.
Belief without evidence=Records?
Syracuse Football now has a great head coach and I think fans know that. Dino Babers is a coach with a winning track record and one who stresses “belief without evidence”.
I think Syracuse Football fans still believe, but is hard waiting for evidence on the field. Hopefully these historic losses will be a thing of the past, and historic wins will replace them. If our offense keeps it up then maybe, just maybe, we’ll set some records this year. If not this year, there’s always next year. Here’s hoping that’s the case.
