Stony Brook hangs on to defeat James Madison 41-38

Lyle Negron passed for a career-high 395 yards and accounted for five touchdowns as Stony Brook held on to defeat James Madison 41-38 Saturday night.

Negron had touchdown passes of 75, 35 and 22 yards, and added two touchdown runs from short yardage as Stony Brook (4-6, 2-5 Colonial Athletic Association) built a 38-17 lead early in the third quarter. Negron's three TD passes is also a career-high.

Adrian Coxson had a career-best nine receptions for 183 yards. His 75-yard catch from Negron was on the Seawolves' second play from scrimmage.

James Madison (6-4, 3-4) stormed back with Michael Birdsong throwing three of his five touchdown passes in the second half. Birdsong was 23 of 34 for 355 yards passing, but he threw two interceptions.

After Birdsong's last TD pass with 4:57 remaining, Stony Brook handed the ball to James Kenner seven times, running out the clock.
