Stony Brook 76, Gardner-Webb 28
Brock Jackolski set a Big South Conference record with five touchdowns as Stony Brook set school and conference records for points scored in a 76-28 rout of Gardner-Webb on Saturday.
The Seawolves (7-3, 5-0), who also set a school record for wins, will face Liberty (7-3, 5-0) for the Big South championship on Nov. 19. The winner receives an automatic bid to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
Stony Brook led Gardner-Webb (4-6, 2-3) 28-20 with 2:43 elapsed in the second half, then scored 21 points in the third quarter and 27 in the fourth.
Jackolski, who had 14 carries for 107 yards, scored on runs of 1, 18, 53 and 30 yards and caught a 7-yard TD pass from Kyle Essington, who threw for three touchdowns.
The Seawolves' previous scoring high was a 70-20 win over Brooklyn College in 1988. They broke Liberty's Big South record of 73 points.
