Starting DBs Lammons, Smith ejected
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) South Carolina starting cornerback Chris Lammons was ejected against No. 18 Tennessee for throwing two punches at Vols receiver Jauan Jennings.
Lammons was called for unsportsmanlike conduct and thrown out in the opening quarter. He was locked up Jennings away from the play on a long run by Vols quarterback Joshua Dobbs when he freed his arm and connected with a punch to Jennings stomach, then took a swing at his helmet.
In the final period, defensive back D.J. Smith was ejected for targeting after his hit on Jennings. Officials upheld the targeting call after review and Smith will also miss the first half of South Carolina's game next week against Missouri.
Lammons is a 5-foot-10 junior from Lauderhill, Florida. He has started all eight games this season.
Smith is a junior from Marietta, Georgia, who has started seven games this year.
