Stanford coach Shaw fed up with his team playing night games
Stanford is on an unprecedented streak of playing night games. The Cardinal host Washington on Saturday night in Palo Alto and it will be the fourth of five consecutive night games for the team.
The late starts are tough for fans, especially for alumni on the East Coast; however, the games are equally as rough for players.
"Sunday is the players' day off, and it's tough sometimes, getting back to their dorms at three or four in the morning from a road trip,'' Stanford coach David Shaw said, according to the Contra Costa Times.
"This is the day they have to catch up on schoolwork and spend the day away from football, and they're in bed until 1 (p.m.) and half their day is gone. It's hard to recover from a night game if there are things you need to get done."
There is no cap on the number of night games Pac-12 teams can play, but it's fair to say Shaw and other Pac-12 coaches aren't thrilled with the set-up.
"It is what it is,'' Shaw said. "But it would be great if we played a few more games when the sun is out."
