South Carolina had a low-key signing day, which is just fine with coach Steve Spurrier as his team comes off back-to-back 11 win seasons.
Spurrier said Wednesday that teams that didn't have good seasons are often the ones that make a big deal out of the recruits they sign.
South Carolina signed 21 players, one short of the maximum the Gamecocks could sign after losing three scholarships because of NCAA violations. For the second year in a row, there was no huge catch, just a number of three-star and four-star recruits.
The class again finished in the top 20, but was behind a number of other Southeastern Conference teams.

The Gamecocks signed five offensive linemen and four linebackers, meeting some of their biggest needs.
