South Carolina in need of some positive vibes
Steve Spurrier certainly did not envision this much turmoil through the first three games of the season.
After narrowly defeating North Carolina in the season opener, the Gamecocks have put together two poor efforts in losses to Kentucky and Georgia. Versus the Wildcats at home, Spurrier's team was down 24-7 at halftime before losing the contest 26-22.
Against Georgia, South Carolina was thoroughly dominated. The Bulldogs had a massive advantage in all three phases of the game. The Gamecocks looked a step-slow, and were sorely lacking from an execution standpoint.
Now sitting at 1-2, a date with UCF on Saturday awaits the team. As Spurrier intimated during his Tuesday press conference, he's still confident in his team.
"We're hoping to really play our best game and we'll find out if we're capable, so it should be a huge challenge to our players to see if we can go out there and really look like a good team this week."
Spurrier also spoke about his personal mindset. It appears as if he's still bullish on the Gamecocks' chances to turn it around in 2015.
"I don't think I've screamed and yelled at too many of them too much. A lot of players get mad at themselves if we're not playing at a high level. We'll encourage them if they want to play really well. I still think we're capable of turning this thing positive but we're not very positive right now. But it's a new start. We have to put behind us the beating we took last week and try to learn from it."
