Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and Southeastern Conference leading rusher Mike Davis did not practice for No. 12 South Carolina on Tuesday due to injuries.

Clowney was resting bone spurs in his right foot while Davis is dealing with an ankle injury. Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier said earlier that backup tailback Shon Carson was likely to start against FCS opponent Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Clowney aggravated the foot problems in last week's 19-14 victory over Florida. He has said he'll have surgery after the season to alleviate the pain. After Coastal Carolina, the Gamecocks host rival Clemson.

Others not practicing were Gamecocks sack leader Kelcy Quarles and starting safety Brison Williams. Quarles was bothered by headaches while Williams had a forearm injury.
