South Carolina coach Spurrier apologizes for not taking questions after loss
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier apologized for walking off without taking questions reporters after the Gamecocks' overtime loss to Tennessee two weeks ago.
Spurrier says he should've stayed and ''faced the music.''
Spurrier spent less than a minute at the microphone following a 45-42 defeat on Nov. 1, when South Carolina squandered a two-touchdown lead in the final five minutes.
The Football Writers Association of America sent a letter of complaint to the Southeastern Conference and South Carolina last week, saying that Spurrier's quick postgame was unacceptable.
Spurrier acknowledged that Sunday. He said he was sorry and would try not to let it happen again.
The Gamecocks (4-5, 2-5 Southeastern Conference) were off this past week. They close SEC play at Florida (5-3, 4-3) on Saturday.
