Washington coach Steve Sarkisian is refuting a report that he has been contacted by UCLA for the Bruins head coaching position.

Sarkisian spoke after practice on Friday as the Huskies gear up for the Alamo Bowl against Baylor. Sarkisian said he doesn't want to ''engage in speculation and rumors.'' He said he doesn't believe he should talk about rumors every time they come up.

The Los Angeles Times, citing unnamed sources, reported on its website Friday that the Bruins had approached Sarkisian about their head coaching position. Sarkisian was previously an assistant at USC and is 19-18 in his two seasons as head coach at Washington.

UCLA fired Rick Neuheisel after the Bruins went 6-6 in the regular season.
