Andy Summerlin was 23-for-32 passing for 320 yards, including an 82-yard touchdown throw to Riley Hawkins, to lead Samford to a 38-7 victory against The Citadel on Saturday.

Samford opened the scoring on Jaquiski Tartt's 65-yard interception return off Ben Dupree.

Fabian Truss rushed for 114 yards for Samford (5-1, 3-1 Southern Conference), which scored in every quarter and outgained The Citadel (3-3, 2-2) 569 yards to 304. Hawkins finished with 94 yards receiving, and 10 players caught passes.

Samford outgained the run-oriented Citadel 249 yards to 221 rushing, but its passing was the key, with Samford holding a 320-to-83 edge in yardage.

The Citadel's lone touchdown came in the third quarter on a 55-yard run by Rickey Anderson to close to 14-7, but Samford scored the next 24 points. It was The Citadel's third loss in a row.
