Chris Evans carried 34 times for 165 yards, his fourth straight game over 100 yards, to lead Samford to a 20-13 win over Georgia Southern on Saturday.

Evans' touchdown on a 5-yard run gave the Bulldogs (4-4, 2-3 Southern Conference) a 7-6 lead in the second quarter after the Eagles (4-4, 2-3) opened the scoring with a 1-yard first-quarter run by freshman quarterback Jerick McKinnon.

McKinnon started in place of Jaybo Shaw, who was injured last week, but Shaw returned with 5:03 left in the third quarter and Samford ahead 13-6.

Shaw was intercepted in the fourth quarter by Samford's Sean Thompson at the Eagles' 21, leading to a 5-yard touchdown run by Alex Barnett.

Laron Scott's 76-yard return of the ensuing kickoff gave Georgia Southern a short field, leading to an 11-yard run by Shaw that closed the scoring.
