Samaje Perine's running back cousin wants to play for the Sooners
Samaje Perine's cousin wants to play for the Sooners.
Lamical Perine, a three-star running from Theodore, Ala., has an offer from Mississippi State and several mid-major schools, but he's hoping to open the eyes of Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops when he attends the Sooners' camp on June 10.
“That would be crazy,” Lamical Perine told The Oklahoman of his desire to receiver an offer from Oklahoma. “People would love that.”
Samaje Perine, of course, ran wild as a true freshman last season after taking over for injured starter Keith Ford, who recently transferred to Texas A&M. Against Kansas, Perine broke the NCAA single-game rushing record with 427 yards, and he went on to easily lead the Big 12 in rushing with 1,713 yards, and was named the conference's offensive newcomer of the year.
Lamical Perine rushed for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior. He recently spoke to The Oklahoman about the possibility of joining his counsin in Norman. Read the entire interview here.
