Brian Bell threw for three touchdowns and Sam Houston State broke a 7-7 first-quarter tie by scoring 45 consecutive points in a 52-17 rout of Northwestern State Saturday night.

The Bearkats (8-2, 6-1 Southland Conference) won their seventh straight. They've scored at least 41 points in each of those games.

Sam Houston State scored first on Tim Flanders' 56-yard run, then Ed Eagan returned the ensuing kickoff 82 yards for a Demons' touchdown.

But following a Bearkats' field goal early in the second quarter, Bell threw three touchdown passes. The first was a 50-yarder to T.J. Jones, then a 38-yarder to Trey Diller and a 10-yarder to Chance Nelson. Bookie Sneed also returned an interception 11 yards for a score.
