Robert Shaw ran an interception return 61 yards for Sam Houston State's first touchdown of a 47-7 blowout over Nicholls State on Saturday.
Tim Flanders ran for two touchdowns and Richard Sincere ran for one more as the Bearkats (6-0, 3-0 Southland) shut out the Colonels (1-6, 0-3) until almost the final minute. Nicholls State finally scored with 1:01 left when LaQuintin Caston found Jesse Turner with a 12-yard touchdown pass.
The Bearkats' Brian Bell led the game in passing, completing 14 of 20 for 128 yards and a touchdown. Caston threw 4 for 6 for 36 yards.
Miguel Antonio added a field goal for Sam Houston State while Kash David grabbed a safety.
