S. Illinois 38, Youngstown St. 21

Southern Illinois took advantage of five Youngstown State turnovers to capture a comeback 38-21 victory on Saturday in a Missouri Valley Conference game.

Youngstown State (4-3, 1-3) led 21-10 late in the second quarter before the turnovers struck. Southern Illinois (5-3, 4-1) finished the game with 28 unanswered points to extend its winning streak to three games.

The Salukis' final two touchdowns came on a fumble recovered in the end zone by Tyler Williamson and a 100-yard interception return by Anthony Thompson on an errant pass by Kurt Hess.

Courtney Richmond recovered a blocked punt for a score, the third straight game the Salukis blocked a punt for a touchdown.

Southern Illinois' Kory Faulkner passed for two touchdowns.

The Penguins outrushed the Salukis 131 to 71 yards and accumulated 231 yards passing to Southern Illinois' 185 yards but lost three fumbles and were intercepted twice.
