Robert Washington commits to Syracuse
Robert Washington, a highly-coveted running back of the class of 2016, committed to Syracuse over the weekend, but only after running a reverse.
On Saturday, the four-star RB from South Lake Christian Academy (Huntersville N.C.) announced in a video published by Bleacher Report that he was committing to Florida. Fifteen minutes later, Washington reversed his course and announced that he plans on attending Syracuse at Ascending Faith Church in Dallas, N.C., according to Syracuse.com.
Washington said he taped the video earlier in the week and changed his mind shortly after.
"I did the report on Thursday," Washington told Syracuse.com. "I had my mind set for the report, but I changed my mind the next day to Syracuse."
Washington received offers from several top schools, including Alabama, Michigan, TCU and North Carolina.
The commitment from Washington is huge for the Syracuse football program. According to Maxpreps.com, the 5-11, 215-pound back rushed for 2,233 yards and 27 touchdowns during his junior season and is a rated a four-star recruit by Rivals.com.
