Report: Treon Harris moving to wide receiver

The expected Florida quarterback competition had a member drop out on Friday -- but not for the reason you may believe.
Treon Harris -- the most experienced signal-caller on the roster -- will instead move to wide receiver, per a report from Gridiron Now. The move will take place in time for spring practice.
At this point, Luke Del Rio, Purdue transfer Austin Appleby, and incoming freshman Feleipe Franks will comprise the upcoming competition at quarterback.

It's a curious development for Jim McElwain and the Gators. In this case, it may be a situation in which McElwain wants to fully utilize Harris' skill-set -- in terms of his athleticism and quickness. Without question, Harris has proven to be dynamic with the ball in his hands. A slot position could be his best spot.
McElwain surely hopes Harris develops into a dangerous pass-catching option for the Gators. He'll complement a group led by Antonio Callaway, Brandon Powell, and potentially Tyrie Cleveland.
