Report: Temple player arrested
Temple defensive tackle Kamal Johnson has been arrested on charges stemming from an alleged assault on his girlfriend, also a student at the university in Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported the 20-year-old junior was arraigned Saturday on felony kidnapping and misdemeanor charges. Bail was set at $25,000.
Temple spokesman Raymond Betzner said the girlfriend told campus police Thursday she was assaulted at her apartment in a building where the university leases several floors. City police are now handling the case. A spokesman did not return a call Saturday.
A hearing for Johnson was scheduled for Oct. 23.
At a news conference, Temple coach Steve Addazio had no comment on Johnson's arrest or his status with the team after a 37-28 win against South Florida on Saturday.
