Barry J. Sanders, the son of NFL Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders, is expected to commit to Stanford this weekend, The Oklahoman reported.

The younger Sanders — who has dominated at running back for Heritage Hall High School in Oklahoma City — will choose the Cardinal over his father's alma mater of Oklahoma State, a source told the newspaper.

The source added that the high school senior was likely to make the announcement official at the US Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio on Saturday.

Sanders had also entertained offers from NCAA heavyweights Alabama and Florida State, among others.

Sanders' high school coach Andy Bogert said in December that his prodigy's top two preferences were Stanford and Oklahoma State, with the Californian school's high academic standard's one of the biggest factors weighing on his decision.

Sanders rushed for 1,324 yards and scored 27 touchdowns this season, the Tulsa World reported.
