Report: Eatery removes Steak Tressel

An Ohio steakhouse meted out its own punishment to the recently-departed OSU football coach Jim Tressel by announcing that it was reluctantly removing his moniker from its menu, The Columbus Dispatch reported Friday.

Steak Tressel, a 14-ounce New York strip steak that comes accompanied by garlic cloves, mushrooms and garlic butter, was set to be renamed following the 58 year old's resignation Monday amid an NCAA investigation into violations during the 2010 season.

Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse cofounder Rick Hauck said the decision was "not a reflection" on Tressel but part of the Columbus-based eatery's 20-year tradition to name the meaty feast after a sitting OSU coach.

"We love Jim Tressel, but he's no longer the coach," Hauck said. "We haven't come up with a name yet, but we are considering naming it after (head basketball) coach (Thad) Matta. He's a pretty big name nationally."
