Power went out before Nebraska-Michigan game

Published Nov. 19, 2011 7:14 p.m. ET

The Big House lost power more than an hour before No. 20 Michigan played No. 17 Nebraska, but the game started as scheduled.

One of Michigan's videoboards was without power for most of the first half, leaving one with just enough juice to show a game and play clock.

The back judge helped quarterbacks by putting his right arm in the air when the play clock was at 10 and at 5. He extended his left arm as a basketball official does on an inbounds pass.

Michigan's fans also assisted, counting down the final seconds before each snap.

Both scoreboards showed the game and play clocks toward the end of the first half. Both were fully functioning just before the second half.

ESPN's broadcast was not affected by the outage.
