Police said former NFL star LB Junior Seau fell asleep at the wheel early Monday when his car drove off a cliff in Carlsbad, Calif. There were no signs of alcohol or drugs. The accident occurred hours after Seau, 41, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence against his live-in girlfriend, 25. Seau was treated for minor injuries, according to the Carlsbad police.

The father of a college student who survived police gunfire outside a Westchester County, N.Y., bar that killed his best friend said the two were trying to obey what they thought was a police order to move the car. Brandon Cox's father, Thomas Parks, said Pace University football player Danroy Henry believed police wanted them to get out of a fire lane, so he drove forward. Parks said an officer climbed on the hood and shot into their vehicle. Authorities said Henry, 20, sped away after an officer rapped on his window. Police said he struck an officer who clung to the hood.
