Virginia Tech was hoping the reports of its college football coaches planning to fine players would last for only one news cycle, but it appears that dream will not come true.

On Thursday, the Richmond-Times Dispatch tweeted photos of a TV monitor outside the players lounge that appeared to show a menu of infractions, and their respective dollar amounts.

Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster had already made national waves on Wednesday when he indicated to assembled media that the Hokies were "going to look at" fining players for being late or missing meeings.

"You need some discipline, and I think that’s one way you can potentially do that," Foster said Wednesday. Per the Richmond-Times Dispatch's story:

The fines ranged from $5 for being late to study hall and went as high as $100 for receiving an unsportsmanlike penalty/flagrant foul.

The Richmond-Times Dispatch also reported that Virginia Tech had a total of three monitors that showed a variety of potential fines and the names of players that have already been fined. The paper says it's not clear whether the fines were actually enforced.

Regardless, by Wednesday night, Hokies athletic director Whit Babcock weighed in, saying he had “no idea” players were being fined and that the practice would be “discontinued immediately.” Per the Dispatch:
