Penn State announces 2015 home game themes
Nittany Lions fans anxious for the return of football got another reason to get excited this week with the release of the themes the athletics department is planning to utilize for each home game this fall.
The Sept. 12 home opener against Buffalo will be Community Heroes Day (meaning police, fire-fighters and EMTs are eligible for special ticket packages) and will include a reunion of the 1959 Liberty Bowl team.
The Sept. 19 prime-time game against Rutgers will be a "stripe out," meaning some sections of fans at Beaver Stadium will be instructed to wear white while others wear blue. Specific details of that event are due in August.
On Sept. 26, San Diego State visits for Unrivaled Band Jam day, which will include high school band performances before the game.
October 3 against Army is Military Appreciation Day, while a week later Indiana will come to town for homecoming and Celebrate Agriculture Day.
October 31 will not only be Halloween but also the THON game as Illinois visits, and the annual White Out game is scheduled for Nov. 21 when Michigan visits.
Single-game tickets are to go on sale July 7.
