In part two of the installment looking at which current commitments can come in and help Missouri right away in 2016, two high school prospects appear primed to do just that.
Both Tucker McCann and DeMarkus Acy could fulfill important roles this upcoming season as true freshmen. This assertion is based upon depth concerns for Mizzou -- as well as the positions in which Acy and McCann play.
K Tucker McCann
Rated as the nation's No. 1 kicker in the country by Kohl's Kicking Camps, McCann is primed to make an early impact.
Starting kicker Andrew Baggett graduated -- thus opening up a starting spot. McCann figures to go head-to-head with Nick Coffman and a host of walk-on options. Theoretically, freshman sensation punter Corey Fatony may also be in the mix if needed.
However, it wouldn't be a complete surprise to see McCann win the position outright.
DB DeMarkus Acy
A Rivals.com 3-star prospect, Acy is one of the most highly-pursued commitments Missouri currently has.
The Dallas native had offers from all across the country -- including the likes Arizona State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech. A long and agile athlete, Acy has the frame to pack on some much-needed strength and weight.
Assuming he's able to do that during the offseason, there's no question he can compete right away for early playing time.
However, there is one caveat to this scenario. Being a high school commitment, Acy still could change his mind and sign elsewhere. With National Signing Day on Feb. 3, Acy is slated to visit the hometown Texas Longhorns on Jan. 23.
Missouri will have to weather storm and hope he stays committed to (and ultimately signing with) the program. Acy is easily one of the most talented players within this current class.
