Oregon State WR Rodgers out for season
Oregon State flanker James Rodgers will miss the rest of the season with a left knee injury.
The senior was injured on Saturday in the second quarter of the No. 24 Beavers' 29-27 victory over Arizona when he was taken down by Wildcat safety Adam Hall.
The exact nature of the injury was not released on Monday. Rodgers had an MRI the day before.
According to Oregon State, Rodgers is eligible for a medical hardship year because he has played just four games this season. Rodgers missed the Beavers' Oct. 2 game against Arizona State with a concussion.
''I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for me ... I really appreciate each and every one of them!'' Rodgers wrote Monday on Twitter before coach Mike Riley announced he wouldn't return.
Rodgers ranked sixth in the nation with an average of 176.75 all-purpose yards this season. He was averaging 18.33 yards on punt returns and 28.67 yards on kickoff returns.
Against Arizona, he had seven catches for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Rodgers, the older brother of Beavers running back Jaquizz Rodgers, has the second-most career all-purpose yards among active players this season with 5,784.
''I know James will stay very involved with the team during his rehabilitation process and we look forward to his return as soon as possible,'' Riley said in a statement.
