Old Dominion 45, Hampton 7
Backed by 213 passing yards and three touchdowns from Taylor Heinicke, Old Dominion toppled Hampton 45-7 Saturday night.
Heinicke, who a week ago set a school record with 492 passing yards against Duquesne, again paced the Monarchs' (2-0) offense Saturday, completing 20 of 32 passes. His first passing score - a 4-yard pass to Blair Roberts - came with 1:17 left in the first quarter. Heinicke added a 40-yarder to Larry Pinkard in the second quarter as Old Dominion jumped to a 28-7 halftime lead.
Heinicke also led the Monarchs with 55 rushing yards on 11 carries, with Colby Goodwyn and Angus Harper adding rushing touchdowns.
Old Dominion's defense held Hampton (0-2) to 245 yards total offense for the game, recovering two fumbles and intercepting two passes.
For the Pirates, Travis Champion was 18-of-31 passing for 221 yards, with Jorr Washington pulling in four catches for 84 yards.
