Oklahoma Sooners' quarterback race may be a race to the wire

You know the saying: If a football team has two (or three) starting quarterbacks, chances are, they really have none.

But Ohio State debunked that theory last season, and though most schools aren't fortunate enough to have multiple competent signal callers, it is possible.

The Oklahoma Sooners have a quarterback battle of their own at the moment, with Trevor Knight and Texas Tech transfer Baker Mayfield as the most likely starting candidates. And by the looks of it, the race will be drawn out deep into training camp.

New offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley had this to say of the Oklahoma quarterbacks after OU's 10th scrimmage:

"All three played well," Riley told the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. "They had command, took care of the ball, made a lot of plays. It’s a heck of a competition. It’s been fun to watch them all get better. Where they were three months ago and where they are right now is a night-and-day difference. I wouldn’t trade those three for anybody.”
