NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma and the University of Houston will open the 2016 season at the home of the NFL's Houston Texans.

The Sooners were originally slated to begin the 2016 season at home against Louisiana-Monroe, but Oklahoma said Wednesday that game has been moved to Sept. 10, 2016 - a week after the opener Sept. 3 in the Advocare Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium.

The Cougars will play in Norman on Aug. 31, 2019.

The 2016 game against Houston will be Oklahoma's second visit to NRG Stadium. The Sooners defeated Colorado 29-7 there in the 2002 Big 12 championship.

The Sooners have won both previous meetings with the Cougars. Oklahoma beat Houston 40-14 in the 1981 Sun Bowl and 63-13 at home on September 11, 2004.
