Ohio State AD: QB Miller assured me he's not leaving OSU

Ohio State’s quarterback competition is still one of the most interesting topics of the college football offseason, but a recent report by Eric Seger of Eleven Warriors suggests that one big question relating to the situation has already been answered.

QB Braxton Miller reportedly told athletic director Gene Smith before spring ball that he isn’t going to leave Ohio State.

“No. He’s not going anywhere,” Smith reportedly said. ”Where’s the rumors? He’s never said that.”

Miller, who started for the Buckeyes from 2011-2013 before suffering multiple shoulder injuries and being forced to sit out all of 2014, was considered a transfer candidate ahead of the season.

Both J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones played well in Miller’s absence, leading the team to a national championship. Still, according to Smith, Miller will play his final season in Columbus.

“My conversation with him was well before spring ball. He’s working out in the weight room and we got into a conversation and I just asked him, I said, ‘You good? All these rumors out there, you good? You need some help if you want to transfer?’” Smith said. ”He said, ‘Mr. Smith, I’m not going anywhere. I love it here.’”

Ohio State kicks off its season on Sept. 7 against Virginia Tech. It’ll be interesting to see who lines up under center.
