Notre Dame transfer Golson opens FSU career as No. 3 QB
Seminole fans shouldn't be expecting coach Jimbo Fisher to hand former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson the Florida State starting job this fall, as the 'Noles incoming transfer has opened the season as the team's third quarterback on the depth chart, according to College Football Talk on Sunday.
Redshirt junior Sean Maguire is listed as the starter with redshirt freshman J.J. Cosentino listed as backup. Maguire started for FSU in its 23-17 victory against Clemson last season following the suspension of Jameis Winston.
The Seminoles open the season Sept. 5 at home against Texas State followed by non-conference opponent South Florida the following week, which gives the 'Noles two weeks to prepare their starter before ACC play begins at Boston College on Sept. 18.
