Brad Henderson threw three touchdown passes and Phillip Harvey returned a kickoff 97 yards for a score as Northwestern State cruised past Mississippi Valley State 45-14 on Saturday night.

Daniel Taylor opened the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run that put the Demons (2-2) up 7-0 just over five minutes into the game. The Delta Devils (1-3) knotted it up on Javaris Fritz's 23-yard fumble return for a score with 6:56 to play in the opening quarter.

But Mississippi Valley State would keep it tied for all of 17 seconds, as Harvey returned the ensuing kickoff for the go-ahead score and the Demons would lead the rest of the way. Henderson, who was 19 of 27 for 127 yards, then threw two of his scoring passes before halftime, hitting Louis Hollier on a 23-yarder and Chris Dever Jr. from 1 yard out, for a 28-7 lead at the break.
